Part 3: About VICUG NYC's General Membership Meetings
*** PART ONE: THE NEXT MEETING
VICUG NYC's next General Membership Meeting will be held in the Board Room
of The Associated Blind/Selis Manor building on Tuesday, March Ninth, from
6 to 7:30pm. At the March 9th meeting, Jay Leventhal and Crista Earl will
be discussing the findings of a survey they conducted for the American
Foundation for the Blind's Technology Evaluation Center. The purpose of
the survey was to gather information about Windows accessibility from the
perspective of people who are either blind or have low vision, and who use
screen readers. While a 1997 survey, also conducted by Jay and Crista,
revealed that even experienced users had difficulty accessing Windows, the
current survey shows a much greater comfort level amongst users, although
some areas, such as formal training and access to databases, continue to
pose problems.
