Senator Bond Introduces Assistive Technology Bill
On June 16, Senator Christopher (Kit) Bond (R-??) introduced S.
2173, the "Assistive and Universally Designed Technology
Improvement Act for Individuals with Disabilities". the bill
would amend the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to provide for
research and development of assistive technology and universally
designed technology, and for other purposes.
Three of the major purposes of the bill are to improve the
quality, capability, distribution, and affordability of assistive
technology and universally designed technology; to increase the
use of universal design in the development of standard products;
and to incorporate the principles of universal design in the
development of assistive technology. Constance Morella (R-MD-??)
