I made it with the dijon mustard and the alterations Sandra suggested. YUM!
Here is the recipe. This recipe makes A LOT. The first time I made it we
felt it was too thin and my husband didn't care for the strong taste of the
turmeric. This last time I made it I cut the water to 1 1/2 cups and the
turmeric to 1/8 tsp. It was much thicker (more like cheese sauce).
MOCK CHEESE SAUCE
1/3 cup nutritional yeast
1/2 cup flour
1 T. dried onion
1/4 tsp. turmeric
1/8 tsp. white pepper (black pepper also works)
6 T. olive oil
2 tsp. Dijon mustard (I used regular mustard because that's what I had on
hand)
2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup tomato sauce, canned
4 cups water
In saucepan over medium heat, blend all ingredients with a whisk. Bring to a
boil, stirring constantly. Pour over cooked macaroni, vegetables, etc.
