AGREED.
I think consolidants can be risky with delamination of argillaceous (clay matrix) sandstones. They don't really address the fundamental mechanisms of decay.
I believe options really are limited to chopping off or replacing.

I was of the impression that consolidants are not effective in bridging the gaps
of delaminations in sandstones. Need input!
