But John, for a Mass-based consultant, what's in it for you to go to (or
organize?) a Nebraska confernence?

"mass-based consultant"? Hmmm.... never thought of myself that way, but I
suppose it is so. I do realize I reach for a national market, but in my own
mind I'm helping individuals, even when I write a magazine article. Those few
who are most ready for my brand of help will give me a call and I *will*
actually be helping them personally. I reach out for them with the article,
then those who reach back to shake my hand are the ones I can really help.

What's in it for me? I guess the fundamental motivating factor is the sense of
completeness I get in my life when I do this sort of thing. Of course, I do
get a living out of it. They pay me to come there. (still a little suprising)
I have to get paid for most everything I do since I don't have any
"independent income" or a "big organization" behind me. I am fortunate to have
a knack for figuring out how to make a living out of what I need to do. My dad
once told me this would be so, although it took me the first third of my life
to realize what he was talking about. He said, "Now John, nothing you will
want in your life will be so unreasonable that you cannot have it. Let enough
people know what you are up to and they will stand in line to help you get
it."
