This is both an introduction and a query.
Introduction: My name is Robert and I've been lurking here since
January. I am slowly making my lifestyle as paleo as possible.
Incorporating elements of Atkin's ketogenic diet, I've lost 30 pounds
since January, 370 down to 340, and I hope to lose another 140 pounds.
My blood pressure has dropped from astronomical to normal, my resting
pulse rate is down, and I'm off all medication other than a few selected
supplements. I've accomplished this while "relapsing" as often as I
keep to a paleo diet. I've lost almost all craving for sugar and highly
processed foods, and I am convinced that as I become more consistent my
progress (weight loss, feeling of well-being) will become more
pronounced. Still, I could use some encouragement.
Query: It would be helpful to me, and to other "newbies" as well, I'm
sure, to hear from long-term paleo people about the success they have
had with this way of eating. Nothing encourages like tales of success.
I'd especially like to hear from someone who has lost a large amount of
weight and kept it off. Or from someone who beat severe depression. Or
disease. I've tried searching the archives, but without much success.
So, oldtimers -- please, give us your success stories. I'm convinced
this is the way of eating for me, but conviction can waiver. I could
use some help.
