Hi group, I am the one that brought the question of getting my 2 year old
insured and I feel I need to update you as to what Blue Cross Blue Shield
told me. I understand that they have a preexisting condition that expires
in one year. BUT, when I talked to them about the amendment they put on
him this was their response-
An amendment and a pre existing condition are NOT the same. A pre
existing condition is (for example) if you have an ear infection when you
apply for coverage - that is a pre existing condition. But if you have
tubes in your ears then they will put an amendment on it and will not
cover anything to do with your ears.. After two years is up, you can
appeal the amendment otherwise it stays on your policy.
-- This is how they explained it to me so the pre existing condition
doesn't apply to us for some unknown reason. I am glad that the most of
you haven't had this problem. I don't know why we are but we are. I also
asked what would happen if I didn't sign the amendment, they told me, you
don't sign it, we don't insure you. Pretty simple huh? Frustrated, angry
and upset about it? Yes, very much so. Thanks for everyones help with
getting him insured. Kathy in Iowa
