Hi there all. I saw the recent postings on McCormick Spices and thought
I would mention my trouble with one of their products. I got extremely
ill all 3 times I used an italian seasoning they make which was listed
at gf in the tri-county handbook. I phoned the firm, and they assured
me that no gluten products were added to the spice; however, they
couldn't guarantee there wasn't cross-contamination that might affect
sensitive people. The first couple of times I got sick, I used it in a
couple of dishes. I wasn't sure if it was just the spice. The third
time I used it, I sprinkled it on plain hamburger to see if I would
still get a reaction to it. I did have a reaction, malaise,
lightheadedness, feverish, cramps, and after about 24 hours diarrhea. I
have resigned myself to the fact that I am extremely sensitive and must
take all precautions to avoid possible contamination; therefore, the
only prepared spice I now use is sea salt.
