Hi Everyone,
Thank you very much for the responses.
Out of 24 responses 18 people believe that hypoglycemic reactions to foods are
greatly improved by maintaining a gluten-free diet. Some comments included:
"within 3 months of being on a GF diet, symptoms improved 95%"
"low blood suagr went away quickly after being on a GF diet"
"a year later I can ingest simple sugars with no problem"
"since going GF, my hypoglycemia has improved enough to be non-existent"
"I no longer have reactive hypoglycenia"
" I haven't felt this great in years!"
Factors that are believed to be contributors to the improved blood sugar
control include:
- healing of the villi allowed more "normalized" absorbtion of all nutrients
- the Zone Diet by Barry Sears
- Dr. Bralys Food Allergy and Nutrition Revolution book
- reduction of glutens inadvertently reduced carb intake
- supplemenatl digestive enzymes replacing those missing/reduced due to
intestinal
damage
Other opinions and views:
"the hypoglycemia might be related to low adrenal function"
"celiac/low blood sugars may be caused from a combination of the pancreas
not producing enough enzymes and low stomach acid"
"sugar is an addiction better left alone"
Interestingly, only 2 out of the 23 repsonses were also, hypothyroid as well.
Thanks very much for the input! Hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday
weekend! :)
