Not sure if this is something that might help others or just a particular
anecdotal bit of evidence. A friend of mine used to be VERY sensitive to
raw almonds (not roasted, though). His tongue would swell up if he had even
a little bit of them. I don't think he needed to actually swallow them,
chewing was enough. Now, after about 2 years on a low carb diet (definitely
not paleo, but by its nature not far from it) he discovered that he is
no longer sensitive to them.

PS he is in his 30s, so this is not a case of a child outgrowing a
sensitivity.
