Hi,

Im celiac and very gluten sensitive. I had been having a lot of problems
with hidden gluten in "pure" spices and spice blends. Sometimes in pure
spices (such as asafetida) a starchy agent is added, either to prevent
clumping or to aid in grinding. Recently I have been buying my spices from a
mail order company called Penzeys. They claim that they never use free flow
agents or anti clumping agents and that they grind most of their own spices
and mix all their own blends. A few of their blends have msg and dextrose,
but if so they ALWAYS list it. So far (touch wood) I havnt had a problem
with any that I have tried. In addition they are very reasonably priced
(cheaper than the supermarket) and have a wonderful selection. ( I
particularly recommend the Adobo).I have no affilitation with this company,
just a satisfied customer. Another solution, which I know we have discussed
on the list before, is to buy the whole seeds and pods wherever possible
(such as cumin, coriander, peppercorns and allspice) and grind them yourself
in a coffee grinder

Cheers

Amanda
