BUSINESS SERVICES INTERNSHIP
WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE
DIVISION OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
BUREAU OF MINORITY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Immediate openings exist for a Business Services Internship for
UW-Madison students at the Bureau of Minority Business Development.
For the dynamic, motivated and career-focused student, this is a superb
opportunity for resume and job-search references. The Department of
Commerce has designed this program to provide a constructive and
productive enhancement of the academic training of business students
to learn about state government and business.
This is a non-paying, non-credit internship requiring a minimum of 10
hours-a-week for at least 10 weeks.
JOB DUTIES: Under the general direction of the Director of the Bureau of
Minority Business Development, interns will help in the Bureau's:
(1) planning and implementation of "Marketplace" procurement conference;
(2) publication of the "Wisconsin Minority-OwnedBusiness Directory";
(3) collection and analyses of statistical information on minority
businesses;
(4) monitoring and tracking of clients;
(5) record keeping, filing and other clerical activities.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Effective oral, written and interpersonal
communication skills, and strong computer operations proficiency in
Microsoft Office Suite Products. Ability to organize and deal effectively
with multiple demands are helpful.
