The Black Star Liner, an incipient African Cultural Association, is hosting
a party at

        The Second Story
        508 State Street
        Friday, February 27
        9 pm
        Cover: $3

        We will be spinning hits of as many kinds of African, Caribbean and
Latin musics as possible.  We will feature older tunes (60s, 70s, 80s), but
will play newer music, too.  Some of the bands we plan to play are:  Sweet
Talks, OK Jazz, Starband, Simba Wanyika, Les Bantous de la Capitale, Oliver
Mtukudzi, Robson Banda, Rail Band, Oriental Bros., Osita Osadebe, Ramblers,
Etoile de Dakar, Gnonnas Pedro, Prince Nico, Les Ambassadeurs, Fela,
African Fiesta Sukisa, Zaiko, African Team, Orchestre Baobab, Vikings
Guadeloupe, Byron Lee, Sparrow, Celia Cruz, Cachao,Tito Puente; reggae from
Culture, Prince Far I, Israel Vibration, Toots, I Roy, the Twinkle Bros.,
etc.   New hits from Shaba Kahamba, Arrow, 4 Stars, Bana Maquis, Africando,
Loketo, Somo Somo.  Musics from the North, too.
        We're taking requests by email up to the day of the party.  You may
also bring a contribution (one or two songs per person, please) from your
own collection on CD or cassette.   iF you have any ideas about where to
rent a good sound system, please let us know.
        Let friends know about the dance.  If all goes well, we would like
to make this a regular event.
