for the Elephants.

- South Africa and Angola slumbered in the heat as they played out a no-score
draw, while Guinea stamped their credentials on the tournament with a one-nil
victory over Algeria

- Burkina Faso coach Philippe Troussier said he wasn't disappointed with their
one-nil defeat by Cameroon in the opening game, and said he was proud of the
determination his side had shown. "God was not with us" he said.

- Sources in the Zambian camp say long-server Kalusha Bwalya has been dropped
as captain, in favour of 27 year old Elijah Litana, for Zambia's opening game
against Morocco

- Mali has been named as host of the 2002 Cup of Nations -- beating off a
strong challenge from Egypt. Zimbabwe will host the competition in 2000
