To all list members who responded to my post about synthroid, a big thanks!
Of the 12 or so responses, 10 agreed that synthroid is GF. Verification of
the GF status of this medication had either been made by their individual
pharmacists, their doctors, or by the drug company itself. There was one
mention of someone using the brand name Levothroid instead of synthroid
because it contains no starch. The "starch" in synthroid is made from a
corn source if this product is manufactured in the U.S. The manufacturer
would be breaking the law if they used any other form of starch. Let's all
hope that these manufacturer's are complying by the labeling laws. My
favorite response was from someone who simply urged us all to "train" our
pharmacist to understand the importance of verifying medications (or
demanding them) to be GF!
Thanks again for your responses.
