Thanks for this information Todd.
So it seems, that normal, healthy persons don't feel any effects at all.
(same for casein, i suppose).

If parts of foreign proteins enter the bloodstream, then of course
an imune response is demanded.
In this way the imune-system has to check each and every protein
at the intestinal lining.
If you would inject any alien protein into the
bloodstream it would be immedialy attacked by the imune system.
Possibly causing allergy-symptoms maybe quick or slow ones.
Such slow allergies are quite often (IGG-response).
I have a book where a doctor claims to have found reaktions on
20% of all patients on quite many proteins
(gluten, egg, more seldom meats, very often cows milk).

And alien protein is not only grai
n.
Every protein not comeing from the own body is alien.
Even tissue from relatives is attacked as we now from transplantations.

So it seems to me that the main problem with celiac or other allergic
deseased is:

Invalid passing of partially decomposed proteins (?)
Damadged intestinal lining (?)
Since this is _the_ reason why grains (esp wheat) are considered
unhealthy by most paleo-diet-followers, I think it's an interesting
question to follow.

I'll try to find something more about the lectins you mentioned.

Amadeus
