I don't think every piece of raw chicken or fish has salmonella on it.
Dogs aren't susceptible to the same bacteria as humans, anyway, except in
certain circumstances.  I've seen dogs and cats eating the very rankest of
carrion with no ill effects.  After all, that's what they do in the wild.

I have a question, too:  Can anyone tell me why it isn't ok to freeze your
pet's food?  What do arctic carnivores do with frozen food?
