We discussed this at the last potluck, because we asked Ray to define what he
meant by gourd.  For example zucchini and summer squash are edible raw and
very low carbohydrate and he said they were probably OK.  But this was just an
off the cuff after dinner conversation, not a long researched thesis.
Flaxseed is a grain and he was basically against it, was my impression, but I
eat a little bit of it occasionally in it's whole natural state.  OK, I base a
lot of my cooking on what Ayla did in all those Jean Auel books, not exactly
scientific research but hey I understand Auel researched it a lot.
