I would have to agree with what Anat says. We have four kids, 6, 4, 2.5 and
11 months (the latter of which had a severe reaction to milk). All of our
kids were "underweight" according to your doctors, but I've never heard that
from ours. Yes they have been less than 50 % on the scale, but not so much
that we were concerned about it.
As for going long periods without gaining wait, our oldest was 23 lbs at 9
months. Huge kid, I know. but he didn't gain an ounce for the next 18
months. Even then the doctor wasn't concerned. I guess the point I'm trying
to make is that if you're giving your child a blanced diet and they're
eating pretty good portions, you don't have to be too concerned. I'd much
rather have a "skinny" kid who has good eating habits than a chunky kid who
eats anything they want.
