Dave, we have the opposite problem with restaurants - we tell them my
son is milk-allergic, and they assure me that they have Lactaid for
folks with his problem! Then I have to explain that we can't have
any milk at all, not even whey, or butter flavoring . . .

I've found that in restaurants it's easier to tell the waiter
or waitress that I'm milk allergic rather than severely
lactose intolerant if I'm not in the mood for giving a
lecture on LI. Everybody knows what the word
"allergy" means. On the positive side, though. I'm
educating lots of "milkies" about lactose intolerance.
