    SAN FRANCISCO--(BW HealthWire)--April 2, 1998--Responding to recent
debates in the medical community over whether regular consumption of red wine
is actually good for your heart, L'Chaim Enterprises Inc. of San Francisco
has introduced a new non-alcoholic capsule designed to benefit your
cardiovascular health.

The product, GrapeHeart(TM), is a nutritional supplement made exclusively
from the skins of red wine grapes, a rich source of antioxidant polyphenols.

Early studies showed that moderate consumption of red wine helps to lower
the risk of heart disease and balance cholesterol. Calling it the French
Paradox, scientist discovered that the French have excellent cardiovascular
health despite a diet high in animal and milk fats and protein.

A review by the New England Journal of Medicine suggested that red wine
might be beneficial because it increases HDL or "good" cholesterol levels,
while decreasing LDL or "bad" cholesterol. LDL is believed to be involved in
the build-up of arterial plaque that can lead to coronary heart disease.
Later research also suggested that drinking red wine may help prevent blood
clot formation.

While the debate continues, studies to disprove the efficacy of red wine
have largely been unsuccessful, indicating that the causal agent must be
something in red wine that is not found in similar concentrations in other
foods or drinks. The GrapeHeart theory is that "something" is grape skins.
Grape skins contain high concentrations of phenolic substances (anthocyanin
leuco-anthocyanin). In addition to benefiting the cardiac system, scientists
have demonstrated a correlation between phenolic compounds and successful
treatment of other ailments as well, such as joint and muscle pain, arthritis,
circulatory problems, and breast cancer.

But what if you don't want to drink red wine every day? Or you're
worried about the calories? GrapeHeart is made entirely from pesticide-free
red grape skins, without the alcohol or calories of red wine.
