Thanks for your response on my
Q: are the mexican beers concidered to be GF?
First , pardon my english;-) beer and akevitt would be at the christmas
dinner. Afterwards we traditionally drink coffe and eat various types of
christmas *cookies*. Luckily we also always serve fruit and nuts.
I got 8 replies, and these are quotes from them:
about BEERS
>>>Many Danish brewed beers are GF. We buy Royal Ceres (from
the Aarhus brewery) here in England for my coeliac wife.
_Danish-brewed_ Carlesberg and Tuborg ARE GF (English
brewed and German brewed are not!)<<<
>>>There is also a recipe out there to make your own g.f. beer, but
you have to malt your own corn. <<<
>>>The only Mexican beer that I know of that is gluten-free is Negra
Modelo. <<<
>>>Beer, by definition, is made from barley, hops, water, and yeast, so if
it's GF, it isn't really beer, I'm afraid.<<< (actually it is malt, hops,
yeast and water. The malt usually is made from barley, but could be GF and
still be beer.)
about SUBSTITUTES
>>>Have you tried the draft ciders which are new to the market? They look
like beer & the while they don't have a malty taste, they aren't bad. <<<
>>>Good, expensive Champagne is no problem.<<< (exept for my wallet :-)
:-))
>>>hard apple cider.<<<
>>>mead, which is made from honey.<<<
>>>wine, rum, or tequilla.<<<
.. and a couple eager to learn teh reault of this question.

I went to Denmark for this years summer holiday. That was before I went on a
GF diet. I enjoyed Tuborg a lot, and concluded it was different from the
Tuborg brewed on license in Norway. Now I know why :-)
