If he has trouble breathing after eating cheese, it's _not_ lactose
intollerance.  The dark circles under the eyes are partially caused
by not getting enough oxygen.  Your husband is having an asthma attack
after he eats dairy foods.  There are a bunch of drugs he can take to
deal with an acute attack, but the best thing to do is just avoid milk
and milk products completely.  Repeated exposure can make the reactions
more severe, to the point that they become life-threatening.
