Hi Dave,  That to me is NOT unexplained diarrhea.  I don't know the
reasons, but the most I can have of the 100% Lactaid milk is 2-4oz.
Anything else will have me running to the nearest bathroom with the worse
cramps.
It might be that besides being lactose intolerant we are also "casein
intolerant."  I'm not sure if there is such a term, but I can attest that
anything that has any kind of casein, I can have just a little.  More, and
again, I cannot digest it.  I tried last year this diet powder, sold by a
doctor, lactose free, that you would mix with water to make this kind of
"protein drink or pudding."  It was also not agreeable with my system.
I could never be a "major consumer,"  as you say you  are of Lactaid
products for the same reasons.
Hope this helps, even if it'll keep you away from the milk.  :-(
