I had several responses to my post about using quinoa hot cereal for
replacing oatmeal in baking. A couple reminded me that quinoa is on the
no-no list of some organizations, although other organizations say it's
okay. I personally have not had a reaction to quinoa, although I get
gallbladder attacks when I eat wheat.
Another person said the canola oil "is grown on fallow wheat fields and is
contaminated with wheat from the seed up! this was on the web a couple of
weeks ago--use sunflower, olive oil or butter."
I had several posts regarding where to find the hot cereal quinoa flakes I
used as a replacement for oats, so thought I'd post that to the list. I
found them at Wild Oats, I think. It could have been Smith's (a Phoenix
grocery chain, which has a large health food section).
I did a quick Yahoo search for the manufacturer (Ancient Harvest) and came
up with several hits. The first one I looked at does carry their hot quinoa
cereal:

I didn't look at the other sites, but I'm sure some of them probably carry
it as well.
The address for the company itself is:
