Referring to the note below, I haven't found a way to have a pdf file
translated to text if it is not residing on a web server (to access as
a URL).
I be glad to know how I could if someone else has.

You can read PDF files on the web by sending an email with the precise URL
of those files to:
[log in to unmask]
then you will get an email with the text of the pdf file.
Note that this also works with FTP as long as you type the ftp address in
the format below:
ftp://etc.etc.com/path/and/filename.pdf
I'm sure there is a way to read pdf files that are already on your machine.
