Hi All,

I thought I'd let you know about another tool you might want to use in
searching for audio to listen to over the internet. EarthTuner, which is
available from

ftp://ftp.download.com/pub/win95/internet/earth10.exe

is a handy little utility that contains more than 1,000 links to Real Audio
radio stations and other content. The feature of most interest to those
who use screen readers is probably the Explorer-like list of stations that
you can cursor through. When you start you are presented with a list of
U.S. states plus foreign countries. Press a right arrow on any entry and a
group of subcategories are revealed. You'll want to use the right mouse
button or keyboard equivalent (the context key on the right side of your
keyboard) to see exactly what options are available, such as launch, expand
and such. For stations that broadcast via Broadcast.com, you will still
have to deal with that site's interface, as EarthTuner only includes links
to the station-specific page for each radio station on Broadcast.com. But
for the rest of the stations and audio streams the program knows about, you
can launch the audio directly.

Depending on your screen reader, you may need to reclass certain parts of
the program because it does use non-standard controls. I have a
configuration file available on request for JFW users.

EarthTuner is by no means a shining example of accessibility. It lacks
keyboard controls to stop and start audio as near as I can tell so you'll
have to label tgraphics. That said, much of the program can be navigated
with the keyboard so you'll have to give it a try to see if it meets your
needs. I've written to the support folks to ask about better keyboard
access so we'll see. Despite the negatives like having to reclass controls
and label graphics, I have found the program of value.

A home page for the program can be found at:
