With digital technology well established, the NLS appears closer to
utilizing the technology for the benefit of blind patrons. Here's
something practical and useful we can do to assist in the development of
digital talking books.

Subject: Public Comment Sought on Digital Talking Book Features
The Digital Talking Book Standards Committee of the National
Information Standards Organization (NISO) is seeking public
comment on a draft document describing the features envisioned for
the next generation of talking books for blind and physically
handicapped readers. The document "Digital Talking Book Features
List -- Draft 1, June 1, 1998," can be found at:
