We just did some challenges also and have had pretty good results. She's
also 3. From what I've heard that can be a significant age. While I
would not call her "allergy free", she can eat half a slice of American
cheese with no noticeable symptoms. Also some sour cream in a sauce.
I've also tried real butter on a bagel. Ironically, I love (or at least
used to love) butter, and now that I'm so used to margerine it actually
tasted funny to me! We can do pancakes with real milk and eggs too!
This is exciting.
I've noticed her tolerance for other allergens such as corn has increased
also. She recently had a cold and did not have a terrible eczema
outbreak from the decongestant (corn/sorbitol) which always caused
problems in the past.
We are still going to keep to our restricted diet for now, but I feel I
can let my guard down a bit if I'm not positive about what is in
something when we go out. I should mention that Alyssa has never had any
sort of anyphalactic reaction. Also, we're not completely sure what the
baby (8 months) is sensitive to. We've uncovered a few things through my
diet.
