I have gotten many, many positive E-mails on my FDR idea. I
suggest we all write to the FDR Memorial committee. The address
is:
National Capital Park-Central
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
900 Ohio Street, S.W.
Washington, DC 20242

Include the following or your own words on this idea:
I'm not sure if a final design for the new FDR Memorial sculpture
has been determined yet. I know it is to depict FDR in his
personally designed wheelchair. But I was thinking. I wonder if
a simple life-size sculpture of that unique wheelchair WITHOUT
Roosevelt sitting in it might be more enlightening. There could
be a plaque beside the chair telling a bit about it. And anyone
who wanted, could sit in FDR's wheelchair. Children, adults,
disabled, nondisabled could see what it felt like to use that
neat little mobility aide. It's just a thought. But I'd
love to hear your comments. Let's talk it up, and E-mail me
directly.
