Try Alt-T for the Tools pulldown menu, then 'O' to select Options.
In the Options box click on the tab that says 'General.' One of the
options is 'Blue background (WordPerfect style).' Alt-U will toggle the
blue background on and off. Also you might want to click on the 'View'
tab and select 'Highlight' (reverse video when a item is highlighted.)
The text will be the WordPerfect light gray instead of yellow but
even so it is much easier to see.
