This agrees with my experience. They do seem to taste a bit salty, even
after being boiled in water. Of course, maybe standard hotdogs taste less
salty because they are sweetened with dextrose and corn syrup and filled
with "modified food starch" (what the hell is that?!?) and "non-fat dry
milk solids"

I don't remember there being MSG in them. I try to avoid that. I do
think, though, that there might have been sodium nitrate as the last
ingredient.

Kosher hotdogs (or any kosher meat) is usually somewhat salty compared
to nonkosher varieties--part of the kashering process involves completely
draining the blood out, and this is normally done by covering the meat
with salt and letting the blood leech out that way. The alternative is
broiling. So the taste can have nothing to do with MSG.
Besides, as the Hebrew National commercials say, "We answer to a higher
Authority" :)
