I can come up with 3 reasons why I do wear them. Beauty doesn't
enter into it. I've been wearing contacts for 24 years. I've never
tried soft lenses, but my hard lenses and gas perms have been so
comfortable that I never had a need.

1. When I was 13, my eye doctor said at the rate my eyes were
changing, I could be legally blind within 5 years without them. I
overuse my peripheral vision, so was constantly looking "around" my
glasses. That's not an issue with contacts. I wore my original
prescription of contacts (in fact, the excact same hard lenses!)
until I was in my 20s.

2. My vision is correctable to 20/15 with hard contacts, but only
20/30 with glasses. That's a real noticeable difference when out
picking wild berries or driving down the road and trying to avoid
hitting a moose!

3. They are easier to deal with. They don't fog up when I come
inside in the winter, which is important in Alaska. :-) They also don't
slide down my nose when I'm sweaty. They don't scratch as easily as
glasses, and they don't give me headaches because they are so heavy.

Anyway, that's my take on the issue. Just another viewpoint.
