Hi,

This is my first message to the list, so I hope I'm following protocol
correctly. I had endoscopy w/ biopsy a few years ago, and was told that I
do not have celiac. However, I do have some degree of inflammation of the
mucosal lining of the small intestine, but the G-I specialist was clear
that it was not celiac. H. Pylorii was negative too.

I've had continuing symptoms for many years, of anorexia (not nervosa),
chronic indigestion, abdominal distension, and a puzzling across-the-board
inability to eat anything but tiny amounts. I've been on intravenous
feeding which is a stop-gap measure but is not a solution.

Recently I read that even people who don't have celiac per se, might
benefit from a GF diet. I eat so little, but what I do eat does contain
gluten. It would be quite difficult for me to restrict gluten, because I am
so restricted by default, but if this is really the problem, then I
definitely would embark on a GF diet. Under the circumstances, I would need
to be reasonably sure that this is the right approach before I try it.

Could anyone point me to some pertinent info that I could share with my
doctor? I would also welcome any opinions about the negative celiac
diagnosis. I also have severe chronic fatigue, so I haven't been able to
look at all the files available from the Listserv, but I'd appreciate
knowing about any specific ones that might be applicable to my situation.

TIA,

Karen from NY
