Lisa,
Funny how what seems obvious to us is absolutely unthinkable to a trained
medical professional with a closed mind. I know from personal experience
that what I eat affects my mind and behavior.
Try a naturopathic doctor. You may have to try a couple of them til you
find one you like or you may hit it the first time - same as any doc, I guess.
If you live in Washington State, insurance will pay I don't know about
other states.
Naturopaths are trained to understand the relationship between food and
behavior. In addition, I recently saw an abstract on the relationship
between celiac (wheat intolerance/allergy) and seratonin. I will try to
find it and pass it on.
If you show it to your allergist, you may be able to get somewhere with
him. Look for other articles, published in medical journals, that
correlate brain chemistry and allergens. Or get another allergist - one
who keeps HIMSELF up to date on current articles.
