Hi,

I just saw the recent posting about hard apple cider. I live in the
Frankfurt area in Germany and one of the traditional alcoholic beverages
here is called Apfelwein (apple wine), which is gluten free and as such
a real substitute for beer (and a blessing for celiacs). Of course, most
people buy it, but it is actually pretty easy to make on your own (we
have done so for several years now) and it tastes even better then.
Basically, you only need the right container for fermentation, lots of
apples, someone who can press the apples and a cool place to store it.
If anybody is interested I can give more info.

Oliver
