All oils would have been difficult for early man to come across.  He
couldn't extract oil from plant sources, and animal meats then had about
one seventh the amount of oil in them as modern supermarket meats.  His oil
intake may have gone up in late autumn when the more oily nuts and seeds
appear, but this was a seasonal thing, and it helped his body gain fat
tissues necessary for the winter months in cooler areas.
