Have you read the book? No, beans and rice are not allowed. Beans aren't
completely digestible in their natural state (hence their untoward side
effects), and rice is a grain. Bread is made with wheat, which is a grain.
Most grains contain chemicals called phytates. These interfere with
mineral uptake and probably help cause osteoporosis.
