Caraway seeds (my mom called them kummel--pronounced kimmel) do not
have gluten.

They are in the plant family Umbelliferae, along with parsley,
carrots, dill, anise, etc. Although they are found in rye bread,
among other things, they are not what makes it rye (they are not rye
seeds); they are just a flavoring, like poppy seeds or sesame seeds,
which are also used to flavor breads, but are not themselves
gluten-laden.

Caraway, poppy, or sesame seeds may be used to flavor gluten-free
dishes as well.
