Hi,
Sorry this is so delayed!

Reported sleeping disorders in celiacs or probable celiacs included the
following: sleepwalking, sleeptalking, night-terrors, nightmares, tooth-
grinding during sleep, sleep apnea, restless sleep due to abdominal discomfort
and pain, restless legs syndrome and periodic limb movement. One person
reported a celiac daughter who has always slept very well, before and after
diagnosis.

Several people had noticed a possible connection between sleep disorders and
accidental gluten ingestion or becoming gluten-free (night terrors,
sl.walking, sl.talking, restlessnes, and nightmares). Several people felt that
their tooth-grinding and/or night terrors were related to dairy consumption.
One found that restless limbs disappeared after going dairy-free (as well as
gf), one found that detoxification after mercury poisoning cleared up night
terrors,sl talkin and sl. walking. Someone thought night terrors could be
helped with more protein and less candy/sugary foods. One post included
suggestions from Reichelt Pediatric Institute in Norway for stretching and
pre-sleeping massage to counteract the effects of the large amounts of growth
hormone released during sleep, that might be responsible for some nightmares
and panic in children. I did a medline search on "night terrors," and read
that serotonin-regulating drugs, benzodiazepines(?) and emotional support may
be helpful for night terrors in adults.

Thank you to you all for your kind and supportive replies. I just loved
reading them. Also, Irene posted a really good summary on night terrors
recently, in case you missed it, on Apr. 29.
