Subject: Re: Key accessibility features of I E 4.01...

Hello folks,
I downloaded MSIE 4.01 2 days ago, and got it to say the text in the
browser window as well has the help wondow, but did not have a lot of
success in getting it to consistently say links. For you developers,
here's what I did:

Went into home row mode to obtain the window class for the browser window.
Made a new constant for that class in the shdocvw.jsh include file.
Brought up the shdocvw.jss script file.
Added or's to the if statements referencing IeClass to include Ie4Class
(my new constant).

I also played with the accessibility settings in MSIE, but didn't have
much success in getting them to help me make it say links.

The help system is another application file that has an .ocx extention. By
copying the script file for shdocvw.dll over to a new name and compiling,
I was able to have approximately the same amount of success.

Also, I labeled some graphics in the options dialog so they said messages
related to check boxes and radio buttons, rather than graphics numbers.

I would say that the experiment was about 60 percent successful. I ended
up removing MSIE 4.01, and was able to go back to MSIE 3.02 with no
trouble.
Jim
