Hi! I am responding to the list at large because I think that Kathy
raises an interesting question. As an adult (who knows what to keep out
of my mouth) with CD and no history of DH, is it necessary for me to stay
away from topical glutens? I can understand not using wheat flour to make
a plaster or Aveeno bath powders because of the inhalation factor, but
what about the Aveeno lotions or the anti-itch cream (which works like a
dream on my many 'squito bites during the summer months!)? The same
question applies for many other lotions and shampoos, etc. Lipstick is
understandable because you may ingest some inadvertantly but we use
multitudinous substances topically which we would never ingest because
they would be toxic that way. Rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and
cortizone cream come most immediately to mind, even mouthwash is o.k. to
swish but they warn you not to swallow!

So what is the deal with topical glutens? Are they o.k. if you do not
have DH or not? (BTW, I have used the Aveeno anti-itch since diagnosis
with no problems -- that I know of!)
