Hi all,

Here is my source for lactic acid:

One is from Doctor Antony Ham Pong., M.B.,B.S.,F.R.C.P. (C) PEDIATRICS
at Smyth Medical Centre, 1929 Russell Road, Suite 208, Ottawa, Ontario,
K1G 4G3 1-613-526-3500. In an article entitled MILK ALLERGY he states
that lactic acid is safe to consume for the milk allergic. Also from the
Department of Nutrition of Food Services at the Children's Hospital of
Eastern Ontario 1-613-737-2221 in their article entitled NUTRITION
GUIDELINES FOR COWS MILK ALLERGY that it is safe for those with milk
allergy to consume products containing lactic acid and lactylate.

Also another few points of interest:
Certain asthma medications contain lactose powder (Ventodisk and
Beclodisk). Some pills contain milk powder as filler. Lactose is also
found in some injectable medications and many pills as a filler.
Seasonings and natural flavours including natural egg flavour may
contain milk proteins but presense of milk does not have to be labelled.
This is especially true of seasoned chips (potatoe & tortilla), canned
tuna & salmon, batters, coated fries, hot dogs, processed meats.
Some retail unlabelled poultry may be treated with milk proteins
Non-dairy does not mean milk free.
Some diaper ointments have milk. Milk paints may be used in some
country-look furniture.

As of yet I have not come across poultry, tuna or salmon with milk.

This is from another hand out from Dr. Antony Hampong.
