In response to the question about gluten free restaurants, I know of one
that is, with the exception of one dessert (one cake; all the others
were gluten free), entirely gluten free. The restaurant in question is
called "Peaches" and it is in Kitchener, Ontario. The Kitchener/Waterloo
area of southern Ontario is a celiac's delight. Not only does it have a
gluten free restaurant, there are two local bakeries which specialize in
genuinely gluten free products which are delicious. One is "Grainharvest
Breadhouse Inc" and the other is "The Natural Food Market". Each makes a
wide variety of delicious gluten free products. "The Natural Food
Market" also sells "El Peto" gluten free products, also headquartered in
the Kitchener/Waterloo area. Apparently, one of the people who teaches
baking in the area is familiar with the requirements of celiacs and
includes gluten free baking along with the "normal" bakery training (I
have only heard this second hand so can't certify that it is true;
everything else in this posting comes from personal experience). I have
no relationship with any of the companies mentioned, other than as a
very satisfied consumer!
