Friends, This is my first posting!! I have only been in cyberspace for
about a week, and in that time I have learned so much from all of you,
and for the first time in a year and a half, ever since my son started
showing severe intestinal and other symptoms, I feel as though I have a
place to get answers to my questions. Most of the medical providers
have been less than helpful.

My two year old is severely milk allergic; I have been researching and
struggling for many months to get him on the road to health, eliminating
dairy from his diet. Some things I have learned:
There is milk in every TUNA FISH that I can find on the grocery
shelves!
Many products, especially breads, that have a parve hechsher, will
change suddenly to a dairy hechsher. Have to check those labels EVERY
TIME!!

Question: I know that my son is allergic to one of the many proteins in
cow's milk, but I do not know which. I have seen discussion here about
tests to find out which protein is causing the reaction. Is this
necessary? Does it matter, since the outcome is that you still can't
serve the allergic person milk?

Question: Does anyone know what lactylate is? I have seen it on
products marked with a parve hechsher. Is it dairy or not?

I have so many more questions, but this is probably enough for my first
message. Thank you, all!!
