When our daughter was born I was all set as a mother to give my child the
best and breastfeed. Little did I know that in trying to eat healthy and
consume all that milk that Meaghan was severly allergic. I wondered why
after the first time or two breastfeeding it became a fight to even get her
to latch on.
She outright refused and when taken to her doctor was not gaining. He
started her on milk formula and lo and behold we had the answer. She
projectile vomited and the works. He changed her to the soybean formula and
life became somewhat normal until we had the added problems when she got
older of adding foods.
She still til this day is anaphylactic to milk along with other food
allergies but in her 6 years we have all grown together. We had 2 reactions
and BOY did we learn. Milk is not always labelled as milk- it has other
names and watch for cross contamination. I wish you the best of luck and
hang in there.
