I just thought that I would enlighten the no-milk list in what it has
brought into my 6 year old daughters life. She has never met someone who
is anaphylactic to milk or even mildly allergic to it. Through the
no-milk list she has since found 2 precious little girls that are both
amazingly 6 years old just like her to be her milk allergic penpals.
For these children to know that there are other kids out there that have
the same allergy as them is just wonderful. My daughter Ashley is so
happy because in her own words she says "Mom, I'm not all alone now!"
Without the no-milk list she would have never met these two girls and
she would have continued to feel alone.
Lets not forget about the finer issues of the no-milk list and what it
can do for our children, especially the severly allergic.
When my daughter was first diagnosed I didn't have a clue what to feed
her - you would not believe the places that you find milk. Just when you
feel safe you find out that it can be in glue where you don't expect it
or in certain specialty wood paints.
I really don't think that all of our efforts should be spent arguing the
points that milk is bad for you - most of us know that - that is why we
joined the list. Try sharing the most unsuspecting place you found milk
with the list. It would be nice to be able to avoid an accident if
possible.
