Deborah and other list-mates,
I still have a store brand of chocolate chips that are OK, but I have
also had safe products change to unsafe suddenly and without warning.
Bummer! (Maybe I'll stock up, just in case!) When I can't find
chocolate chips, though, there are usually several brands of semi-sweet
baker's chocolate that are safe, and these can be chunked (in a bag &
dishtowel...bang with hammer) or chopped (food processor) to create a
chocolate good for cookie-making. Also, if you have a "gourmet" aisle in
your supermarket, if all else has failed, try the kosher section and
look for chocolates from Israel. There are usually some parve choices
there. Oh, chocolate...a blessing and a curse!
Happy cookies, Dale Robin Lockman
