Hi - searching for information about the therapeutic use of Vit. C, I
found the following at www.interwks.com/pauling/allergy.html:
" . . . there is undoubtedly increased utilization of ascorbate under
stressful conditions. If this increased utilization creates a
deficit, there may be malfunctions of various systems of the body
such as the immune system which are dependent on ascorbate.
Therefore, it should not be surprising that certain malfunctions of
the immune system and adrenal glands associated with stress might be
ameliorated by ascorbate. "
Vit. C. depletion, according to the same site, leads to an increased
susceptibility to allergies and asthma:
"Asthma is most often relieved by bowel tolerance doses of ascorbate.
A child regularly having asthmatic attacks following exercise is
usually relieved of these attacks by large doses of ascorbate. So far
all of my patients having asthmatic attacks associated with the onset
of viral diseases have been ameliorated by this treatment. "
Does anyone here have experience with using large vit. C. doses ie
several grams per day? Wouldn't it be true to say that some celiacs,
especially those who have been ill through long-term gluten
consumption before diagnosis, would benefit from ascorbate treatment?
Many of the symptoms, especially multiple allergies and
sensitivities, recurrent colds etc. are surely related to serious
ascorbate depletion.
