I was diagnosed with celiac 5 years ago and have been gf for a year. (No
careful explanation was given the first time so when symptoms disappeared, I
went off the diet. Four years later, symptoms reappeared and a new doctor
explained the risk I was taking.) I have an illness that has occured five times
over the last year. It knocks me out for a week like a flu. Some times there
is vomiting. My white count and pancreatic enzymes go up. I have a pain above
my waist between my ribs and sometimes around my kidneys. I have had every test
known to man and the doctors only say it is nothing awful but we don't know what
it is. One doctor said gall stones but my doctor said not five times and the
scans did not show them. The endoscopy showed recovery except for some scaring.
My absorbtion of calcium is back to normal but I am still slightly anemic. They
put dye in the pancreas as the catscan showed it to be subtly enlarged--nothing.
I am to see an infectious disease doctor just to check that angle out and have a
small bowel series in December. I don't think it is related to celiac but am
checking all avenues. Any ideas?
